What is Rachel's Adventure?
For the past couple of years (actually, since a trip to Urbana in 2002) I have slowly come to the realization that one day I would leave all the comforts that I have known and serve in a foreign country. Of course, during that time worked and served at Abundant Life Church, (finally) got a business degree from Warner Pacific College, went on medical mission trips with Medical Teams International and had a lot of fun with my amazing friends and family.
I was able to ignore that little whisper to leave it all and serve abroad...until this year. I suddenly realized that life was obviously not going the way that I had planned it out (27 was supposed to be husband and kids time according to "my life plan"). So I made a change.
Currently I get to serve God in Mexico City where I have two jobs: I teach 5th and 6th graders at Mexico City Christian Academy and I work for Christian Missionary Fellowship and am serving on the Mexico Field team with a bunch of other amazing people. We are involved in church-planting, community health evangelism, and developing relationships in the community through homework and English-language clubs (among other things!).
